Hello Everyone!
My name is Morgan Eng and for those who may not know, in October 2018, my sister Kathryn was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I created this page to raise financial support to help Kathryn with current medical bills and future surgeries. We're thankful for any donation you can make, but even if you are not able to donate, we would greatly appreciate your prayers and words of encouragement as she continues this journey towards being cancer free!
Kathryn's story:
Before her diagnosis, she had been struggling with a persistent cough for more than 9 months. At the time, her doctors could not figure out the cause as they considered everything from allergies and asthma to acid reflux. She finally went in for a chest x-ray which revealed something much more troubling. The x-ray showed a mass in her lungs.
She received scans shortly after which revealed that the mass was not solid, but was instead lymph nodes growing in an abnormal and unhealthy way. One of the side effects of the mass was that it was putting pressure on her bronchioles, which explained why she hadn't been able to shake her cough.
After multiple scans, tests, and procedures, Kathryn's doctors diagnosed her with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She started chemo last November and just finished up her second round of chemo.
The last year has been really tough for Kathryn and our family, and we couldn't have pushed through without our community, friends and family! Kathryn has continued to work at the Underground Free Clinic which she founded and directs, alongside the best doctors, nurses and staff that anyone could ask for. It’s been a long year of chemo, immunotherapy, biopsies, and scans to find out that her Lymphoma is refractory and has been resistant to treatment thus far. So this December, Kathryn has decided to step away from her role at the clinic to undergo six days of high dose chemo, immediately followed by a stem cell transplant. This is a major procedure for which the recovery time can be more than a year. We are praying that this is successful and that this could be the last step of her cancer journey.
