Katherine’s parents have endured unimaginable hardship after her dad, a senior citizen and lifelong Alabama resident, was arrested in June 2025 for displaying an anti-Trump sign on their own property. Despite exercising his First Amendment rights, he was jailed for 6.5 months in Shelby County, where he suffered poor treatment and serious medical issues. During this time, Katherine’s parents faced relentless harassment: their property was trespassed on and damaged, their address was shared on social media, and local law enforcement threatened them to remove the sign. The trauma and stress have left lasting scars, and Katherine’s dad has now lost mobility in his arms, making it impossible for him to work.

 The ongoing harassment has made it clear that Katherine’s parents need a fresh start, far from Shelby County. The funds raised will go directly toward paying off the balance of their mortgage, and if enough is raised, will also help cover the costs of relocating and moving to a safer community. Katherine will handle the payments herself, ensuring every dollar is used transparently to support her parents’ well-being and future.
