Karma is a bright and joyful 9-year-old who loves the color pink, watching Aphmau, and making everyone around her laugh. She dreams of becoming an astronaut one day and is always curious about the world. Karma has level 3 autism and experiences selective mutism, which means she sometimes needs a communication device to express herself. While other kids her age are starting to enjoy a bit more independence, Karma still needs a grown-up by her side in public to stay safe. She also experiences meltdowns and benefits from deep pressure, something a specially trained service dog can provide.

A service dog would be life-changing for Karma, helping her gain the independence she craves and supporting her through daily challenges. The dog would be trained to help with meltdowns, provide deep pressure therapy, and offer companionship and safety in public spaces. Karma herself asked for a service dog because she wants to be able to do more on her own, just like her peers.

We have started researching programs, but most have long waitlists—often up to two years—and the costs are significant. By starting this fundraiser now, we hope to give Karma the best chance at having a service dog by the time she enters her teenage years, opening up new opportunities for independence, confidence, and joy. Your support will help cover the costs of training, getting to the dog, and paying for the dog himself and ultimately making a lasting difference in Karma’s life.
