Hi everyone,

I never imagined I’d be writing something like this again but we’re in a moment of true heartbreak, and I’m asking for help for someone who means the world to our family.

Early Sunday morning my bonus mom Karleen, the woman who helped shaped the mom and woman I am today, lost absolutely everything when her home was destroyed in a devastating fire. She got out safely, but nothing else could be saved. A lifetime of memories, keepsakes, clothes, and all her basic essentials  gone in an instant.

But this tragedy is just the latest in a series of overwhelming losses. Not long ago, Karleen lost her job, due to her desperately needing a back surgery her insurance refuses to cover. Then her only car was totaled after being involved in an accident. And now, this.

One hit after another it feels like life is trying to break her. But if you know Karleen, you know her spirit is strong. She’s always been the one who shows up for others, gives even when she has little, and carries herself with strength.

Now it’s our turn to show up for her.

Although we can’t bring back what was lost, we can help lift some of the burden. My goal is to raise enough to help Karleen with emergency housing, clothing, food, and to begin rebuilding her life from scratch. She didn’t ask for this, but she needs help to get through it.
