My name is Karlea, and I am reaching out for help after being hit by a motor vehicle, which left me with a broken femur and a shattered knee joint. I underwent surgery to have a metal plate and nine screws put in my leg, and just yesterday, I had an additional manipulation procedure to help my recovery. Unfortunately, my insurance is not covering my therapy, x-rays, or pain medication, and the driver who hit me did not have bodily injury protection. This means all of my medical expenses are coming out of my pocket, and my therapy provider has stopped seeing me due to outstanding bills. Therapy is desperately needed so I can begin to bear weight, learn to walk again, and eventually return to work.

 I am a single mother to two young children, ages 2 and 4. Supporting them has become extremely difficult with my very low income from disability and being unable to work. My children rely on me for everything, and it breaks my heart that I am struggling to meet their needs during this challenging time. I have no current support system aside from disability income, and every day is a fight to keep up with bills and provide for my kids.

 My biggest hope is to recover, start walking again, and return to work so I can be the best mommy my children deserve.
