Dear Friends and Family,

Our beloved Karen Cuevas is facing an incredibly difficult health journey. She has been battling two severe gastrointestinal infections — one in her stomach and small intestine, the other in her colon and large intestine. While undergoing intense antibiotic treatment, the first infection has persisted. Sadly, the antibiotics also triggered the second infection, which poses a lifelong challenge and limits her treatment options.

This comes after months of fighting a virus that caused additional complications and autoimmune issues. Karen is now also dealing with a kidney stone requiring urology care, and a possible prolapse surgery — though that must wait until her current health stabilizes.

After exhausting options with specialists in Colorado, Karen will be getting treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, where a team of experts can treat her rare and complex case.

Medical bills are mounting. Your support will help cover travel to the Mayo Clinic and other specialists, as well as medications, treatments, scans, and procedures.
