Help Kaola Fight Stage IV Cancer

My sister, Kaola Yang, was diagnosed with Colon Cancer at the age of 41. She had been dealing with bouts of abdominal pain for the last year and sought out medical advice several times. Her symptoms were difficult to diagnose and the medical team was unable to determine the root cause. On Jan 10th, 2018, she was admitted to the hospital with unrelenting pain. Scans revealed a large tumor in her colon which required immediate surgical intervention to remove it. Subsequent tests concluded our worst fears. The tumor had already spread to her liver. She was officially diagnosed at Stage IV.

This diagnosis has been life-altering for everyone. Kaola, Joe (husband), and their 3 children have been most impacted. Many of us will never have to tell our children we have terminal cancer but Kaola &Joe had to. Jared (13) and Ben (12) are dealing with this in their own ways but Grace (3) is still too young to understand. Throughout all Kaola has had to endure so far, she says the most difficult part was telling her kids and watching the pain spread across their faces. Her family is her life and all she has done has been for them. She recently went back to school and graduated with a Bachelors in Business in Jan 2017. She had been looking forward to spending more time with her family.

She will require several rounds of chemo and a second surgery to remove the cancer from her liver next month. The accumulation of these treatments, in addition to several other invasive diagnostic procedures, have left her too weak to return to work. Joe has become the only source of income. The mounting medical bills, prescription costs, in conjunction to regular living expenses for them have become another significant source of stress and they are in need of our help now more than ever.

Kaola has never wanted anyone to be troubled by her problems but in this time of dire need, our families would like to ask for help in supporting Kaola &Joe as she continues her battle against Cancer. All donations generated from this site will go directly to Kaola &Joe to help pay for:

1)      Medical expenses not covered by insurance
2)      Ongoing mortgage, utilities, and groceries bills

I don’t know what the future holds for my sister and her family. I don’t know how it feels to be diagnosed with cancer nor have to wonder if my children will have to grow up without me. What I do know is that they need her; we all need her. We need her contagious laugh, her passion to care for others, her hilarious short term memory, and her energetic giddiness to keep us whole. I also know that Kaola has always been strong-willed, persistent, and unshakable. She will fight this battle with perseverance and Jesus by her side.

Please help us keep her spirit encouraged and less stressed during these times with a contribution. Our families sincerely appreciate each and every dollar amount donated. Please keep Kaola &her family in your prayers.

On behalf of our families, we truly thank you.
