Kaizie's Memorial Fund

Donation protected
It is with a very heavy heart that I share this message from Kaizie's brother, Asher. We will keep this page open as a memorial fund to continue supporting Kaizie's family during this challenging time. We are praying for the De Mesa family and sending them all the love.

Friends and Family,

Thank you so much for all the support you have shown me, my parents, and my beloved sister: Kaizie de Mesa. I can confidently say she is loved to the utmost degree. However, as of 2:42 AM, our Kaizie passed. She passed peacefully with her family at her bedside as we said our goodbyes. Thank you for visiting her, and sticking with her through the trials she faced for the last five years, giving her friendship wherever she went, and guided her as she grew.

She will be missed by us. Again thank you all for your support. Rest in peace my beloved sister, Kaizie.

Friends and family,

A few weeks ago on a family vacation in Alabama, Kaizie de Mesa started to have difficulty breathing and was sent to the ER. The doctors found that her idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) had gotten worse. IPAH is a condition in which the heart has difficulty pumping blood to the lungs, which can lead to heart and lung failure, as in Kaizie's case.

She was airlifted to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore where doctors put her into a medically-induced coma while awaiting lung transplant evaluations. A few days after, she was again airlifted to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City so that she can have her transplant surgery and recovery closer to her family's home in New Jersey and to alleviate her family's travel and hotel costs in Baltimore.

We are raising funds to help cover Kaizie's medical bills for her double lung transplant. Our goal is to help her family with the great burden of the costs, as we anticipate them to be enormous and life-altering. We are setting the initial goal of $100,000, but we know that the total costs will be much higher. Please help us reach this goal above and beyond.

Kaizie is a wonderful daughter to Levi and Patti, a loving sister to Asher (Kit), and a fiercely loyal friend. She comes from a close family with many cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents and is well-beloved by countless others. At 23 years old, Kaizie has grown into an incredibly mature and thoughtful young woman. She should be enjoying her summer break from college. We pray for a full recovery so she can continue her last year of studies at Rutgers University and live out her dreams.

Please pray and support the De Mesa family through this difficult time and challenging road to surgery and recovery.  If you can donate any amount, no matter how little, it will be a huge help to Kaizie and her family. Also, please share this page on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), text/email those who may be able to help, and let others know through word-of-mouth. Spread the word so more can know about Kaizie and support her family.

We are waiting to hear more about her transplant surgery and will give regular updates on this page and Facebook.

Kaizie, we are praying for you and your family, and we look forward to your swift recovery.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to support this campaign.

Patti, Asher (Kit), Kaizie, and Levi de Mesa
