<div>She's sassy, moody, fiercely independent, and entirely her own person. She'll curl up next to you when she decides you're worthy of her company, then smack you awake five minutes later. She'll tolerate exactly one second of petting before reminding everyone who's really in charge. She's always had the biggest personality in the room and has never once pretended to be anything other than herself.

<div>As my first cat, Kaat has been with me through nearly every chapter of my life. She was there when I lost my father, who loved her just as much as I did. She was there during chemotherapy, sitting beside me on days when I felt I had nothing left to give. Through grief, illness, and every major change that followed, Kaat was always there.

<div>She is also the reason so many other animals have found help over the years. Loving her taught me what it means to care deeply for animals. Because of her, I've rescued, fostered, treated, and rehomed more than 30 cats, helping them recover from illness, find loving homes, or simply experience safety and kindness for the first time.

<div>Now Kaat is facing the fight for her own life.

<div>She has been diagnosed with a mammary tumor that requires urgent surgery. At 14 years old, time is not on her side, and neither is the cost of treatment.

Every donation will go directly toward Kaat's surgery and recovery, giving her the best possible chance to keep doing what she's always done: ruling the house, demanding attention on her terms, and reminding us every day how much joy one small cat can bring into a life.
