Hi, my name is Wilfred 'Junie Bomba' Allick. I was diagnosed with Stage IV Prostate Cancer on January 11, 2021. I'm also legally blind as of December 2020 due to severe nerve damage from glaucoma and cataracts. I attempted to have these corrected on St. Croix, but couldn't  because of my high blood pressure among other difficulties. I have incurred over $1500 in medical bills after Medicare and Medicaid, and transportation costs. The funds I raise will be used to pay off my medical bills and secure a flight home to St. Croix when I am able to move back.

If you would like an alternative way to send funds, please mail donations to:

Any help is appreciated. God bless you and thank you.

Context:
On November 15, 2020 I flew with my dad from St. Croix to St. Louis. He needed emergency prostate surgery. Dec 3, 2020 the surgery went well. His prostate cancer test came back negative.

Midnight Friday New Year’s Eve I called an ambulance after he’d been complaining of sore chest pain from Monday. I took a nap from 9-11:45 pm. Came in to say happy new year to him and he couldn’t move and was balling from chest pain. Ambulance rushed him to the ER. They did X-ray and CAT scans. His chest was inflamed; the doctor's thought it was due to pneumonia.

Jan 6th they did a biopsy after more scans revealed growths in his spine, pelvic bone, ribs and sternum. His Covid test came back negative.

Jan 11th the doctors revealed that he had Stage 4 Metastatic Prostate cancer. The growths were cancer cells that spread from his groin to the bones. They were no longer in his prostate and that’s why the initial test came back negative. This was a couple weeks before I found out that he was legally blind in both eyes due to several cataracts and severe glaucoma damage. He attempted to have these corrected on the island but his high blood pressure, and overall lack of healthcare providers, prevented him from getting the surgery.

I lost my job on Jan 4, 2021 because I was taking too much time off to take care of my dad. My mom flew up on Jan 2 and was amazing with helping out. She had to return to STX for work though. I was exhausted to say the least, but the hospital wouldn’t keep him and the other options for nursing homes weren’t good.

Jan 13  he moved back in with me and I continued to take care of him with the help of Barnes Jewish home care. He started chemotherapy pills and towards the end of February he was admitted to the hospital for nausea we thought were symptoms of the medication.

3 weeks later, thankfully I was able to get him into an amazing nursing home that he’s been in since March 2. He’s in high spirits and received an outpouring of love and healing and prayers from family & friends around the world.

Medicaid and Medicare covered most of the prostate, cataract and glaucoma surgeries. We still have $1000 hospital bills and over $500 in transportation costs. Please share the link.

Every little bit helps. Thank you.

All the best,
Haley
