La historia de mi primo comienza hace 8 años cuando empezó a tener ciertos problemas de salud, en ese momento no sabíamos lo que tenía, todo empezó con un desmayo.
Paulatinamente fue decayendo y presentando otros síntomas adicionales, al principio eran taquicardias cada cierto tiempo. Como él había nacido con un “soplo” en el corazón, pensamos que podía estar relacionado a ello, y más aún, cuando en sus electrocardiogramas no reflejaban nada que pudieran preocupar a su doctor.
Sin embargo, a medida que pasaban los meses, y luego años, sus síntomas fueron aumentando de intensidad, hasta el punto que hubo un día en que salir de casa le era casi imposible.
Ahora sufre de angina de pecho, un dolor permanente en el área del corazón, eso, sumado a la dificultad para respirar, mareos y arritmias intermitentes, lo han dejado en un estado muy debilitado que lo hace agotarse con el más mínimo esfuerzo.
Hace unas semanas tuvo que ir al cardiólogo porque los síntomas persistentes se están haciendo mucho más intensos, a pesar de ayudarse con medicamentos antiarrítmicos, estos no hacen mayor cosa por él.
En la visita al médico y debido a que él llegó bastante mal al consultorio, el cardiólogo notó por primera vez en muchos años una anormalidad en su electrocardiograma, lo diagnosticó con un extraño síndrome llamado Wolff Parkinson White (WPW).
WPW es una condición en el que existe un canal eléctrico extra en el corazón. Esta, puede provocar falta de aire, mareos, desmayos, taquicardia, y paro cardíaco total.
El médico electrofisiólogo del Centro Ortopédico Podológico San Bernardino, en Venezuela, le explicó que el método más efectivo para tratar este síndrome, es la ablación cardiaca.
Sin embargo, este un método sumamente costoso en Venezuela, y lamentablemente no dispone de seguro médico, ni de medios para realizar este procedimiento, por lo que decidimos recaudar fondos a través de esta plataforma.
Necesitamos reunir, $17.000 para los gastos de la operación que mi primo necesita y que le dará mejor calidad de vida.

My cousin's story begins 8 years ago when he started having certain health problems, at that time we did not know what he had, it all started with a faint.
Gradually he began to decline and exhibit other symptoms, at first they were tachycardia from time to time. As he had been born with a " heart murmur ", we thought that it could be related to it, and even more, when his electrocardiograms did not indicate anything that could worry his doctor.
However, as the months, and then years, went by, his symptoms grew in intensity, to the point that one day it was almost impossible for him to leave his home.
Now he suffers from angina, a permanent pain in the area of the chest, that, added to the difficulty in breathing, dizziness and intermittent arrhythmias, have left him in a very weakened state that makes him exhausted with the slightest effort.
A few weeks ago he had to go to the cardiologist because the persistent symptoms are becoming much more intense, despite being helped by antiarrhythmic drugs, these do not do much for him.
During the doctor's visit and because he came to the office quite badly, the cardiologist noticed for the first time in many years an abnormality on his electrocardiogram, diagnosing him with a rare syndrome called Wolff Parkinson White (WPW).
WPW is a condition in which there is an extra electrical pathway in the heart. It can cause shortness of breath, dizziness, fainting, tachycardia, and cardiac arrest.
The electrophysiologist at the Centro Ortopédico Podológico San Bernardino in Venezuela explained that the most effective method of treating this syndrome is cardiac ablation.
However, this is an extremely expensive method in Venezuela, and unfortunately we do not have health insurance, nor the means to perform this procedure, so we decided to raise funds through this platform.
We need to raise, $17,000 for the operation my cousin needs that will give him a better quality of life.
