Help Julie Recover From a Life Threatening Medical Emergency
Donation protected
SUMMARY:
Julie had an unexpected life threatening battle with a severe case of Legionnaires' disease, faces a multiple-month recovery period before she can return to her job, and humbly asks for help with household expenses as she bridges this gap.
DETAILS:
This is my daughter Julie during her five day intubation where we almost lost her as she suffered from an extreme case of Legionnaires' disease. "Legionnaires'" is a severe form of pneumonia caused by bacteria.
During this five day life-threatening struggle, she spent two days on a ventilator in Lawrence + Memorial Hospital ICU then was transferred by LifeStar to Yale New Haven's ICU where she spent an additional three days on a ventilator. She was frighteningly ill and unconscious while the machine did her breathing for her. Luckily ("miraculously" according to some of the doctors), she improved is now how, but is very weak is is facing a lengthy recovery.
As she works through this recovery, Julie will be unable to return to her job as a therapist working with autistic children in their homes for what we've quickly estimated to be 2-3 months, but could extend into the Holiday season.
Emergency funds helped with medical expenses, but facing a months of zero income, we would kindly appreciate any donations to support Julie with her household expense during this time. Unfortunately her employer only allows 40 hours per year of vacation and sick time which she exhausted while fighting for her life while unconscious. We don't take these requests for help lightly. This is our first time using GoFundMe and we thank you all in advance for any amount of help.
