Help Julie Conquer Her Cancer

I would like to introduce you to my best friend Julie. She is an amazing, strong woman and has been an inspiration to me and everyone around her. Julie never meets a stranger, has a welcoming spirit and smile and is always willing to help others.
Julie proudly served in the Marines for 8 years. After she had her son, she quit the military. She wanted to provide a stable home for him in Augusta, GA near friends and family. Several years later, she had a wonderful daughter-who today is her rock and best friend. Julie got a job at the Augusta Regional Airport where she quickly became invaluable to all the Airport Directors under whom she worked throughout the years.
In 2002, Julie contracted breast cancer. She went through a mastectomy and chemo treatments. She continued to work while she was undergoing the treatments and never lost her sense of humor or her optimistic attitude. She emerged stronger than ever and ended up cancer free.
While undergoing her treatments, the doctors discovered she had primary biliary disease. At the time, they told her it was nothing to worry about since it was a very slow moving disease and they had detected it early. Unfortunately, for Julie, that was not to be her experience. The disease was very aggressive and started progressing rapidly. She ultimately contracted liver cancer and had to undergo chemo for the second time in her life. The doctors believed they were successful with the treatments.
In 2015, her liver function had deteriorated to such a point that she was placed on the transplant list. The doctors warned her that she would not be eligible to receive a transplant until she had been on the list for a minimum of 6 months. Within a month of being placed on the list, she received a miracle! They had found a liver that was a match and within a matter of days, she underwent surgery and had a brand new liver. The doctors were amazed at her quick recovery. She was back to work within 6 weeks of receiving the new liver, working as happily and diligently as ever and enjoying her new life!
Julie has had her new liver just shy of 2 years. Recently she started feeling ill and is now in a great deal of pain. Her team of doctors started her on a round of testing and discovered that her new liver has become cancerous and that the cancer has spread to her small intestine, lymph nodes and her lungs.
Julie is fortunate to have good insurance. It covered a significant portion of her transplant; however there is still an enormous portion of the cost that is not covered. In addition, she has to cover the cost of her life saving medications and co-pays for all the follow up visits. Julie has been struggling to make ends meet and no longer has the money to pay for the medications or the new treatments she will be required to undergo.
