Help Julian Create Essays + Eat
I am Julian Vigo. Many of you know my work--I write on issues pertinent to human rights, especially women's rights, digital privacy laws, tech, ecology, and an array of other subjects. I have been lucky to interview one of my all-time heroes and I have written on: the anti-psychiatry movement in Italy and the U.S., the Cosby Verdict, the crisis in American public housing, a scathing critique of identity politics within the university system, on public lynchings in the U.S. and India, the ecological disaster of meat production, the commodification of learning in the humanities, the rewriting of sex, the troubling construction of rape within the court systems, and many pieces on the problems of gender identity and how this affects women, lesbians, and our shared society at large (here is one of the first pieces on this subject). And there is much more.
Much of my work is unpaid because breaking into journalism is a fire walk of sorts where showing your muster means having to take on work for a very low or no fee.
Now, this month I find myself in need of funds to continue as several of my copywriting clients have not come through and one of my publishers. Late checks don't cut it when you have two children to feed. Let's just say, I am on a diet.
I would greatly appreciate anyone being able to chip in here or on my Patreon account as a regular patron. Please give what you can and share. Your support means that I can continue my work and eat. My needs are basic, but they do exist.
