<div>Hi, my name is Julia Vikman. I am 24 years old and studying political science at Uppsala University in Uppsala. I have big dreams. I want to get my master's degree, work with what I studied for, travel the world and build a life with my boyfriend, but only now I am fighting for my future in a different way.

<div>At 21 years old I unknowingly, spontaneously and randomly developed a very rare form of blood cancer called Essential Thrombocythemia (ET), caused by a mutation in my calreticulin gene. I was diagnosed two years ago and since then my platelet levels have increased rapidly, and have now reached 900 today as of March 11, 2025. I may start medicine soon. My doctors do not dare to answer what this rapid increase means for my life expectancy or quality of life and I do not have the safety net of insurance and savings to cover experimental treatments or clinical trials for modern treatment abroad.

<div>I come from a working class background and as a student I do not have the resources to afford any foreign care that could help me live a long life, or the loss of income caused by the mental strain of having been diagnosed with this rare type of blood cancer. That is why I am asking for your help.
