Help Juan Fight Off Cancer

Donation protected
In February of 2018, after waiting for nearly six hours, my dad was finally admitted into the ER. At 6 am, the doctor came in to announce the CAT scan results we all have been waiting for. "It's pretty bad," he sighed. "Your father has the last stage of pancreatic cancer. It has metastasized to his liver, colon, stomach, and is now touching his lungs." The devastating news came as a shock to my family, as well as my dad's friends and co-workers. Nobody could imagine how much pain my dad has been going through this whole time, but after he lost nearly 20 lb in one week, my mom and I forced him to go to the hospital.

Fifteen chemo-therapies later, my dad's cancer is still as active as ever. His sugar levels stay rocket high while he keeps losing weight. Every day, my mom and I have to force-feed him to make sure that his body gets at least some energy to fight cancer. The treatment has killed off most of my dad's white blood cells, so he had to take a break and have these cells injected into his body. My mom has been the only one working since February, although my occasional part-time jobs helped us make the ends meet. But we still dread every medical bill that comes into our mail each week. My dad's insurance does not cover much of the hospital services and his disability benefits have just run out of funds this past week. Now, he has to reapply and go through a phone interview just to make sure he receives any disability benefits at all. Until then, my mom and I will need to figure out how to earn enough money to cover the mortgage payments, medical bills, our car loan, and other expenses.

My entire life, dad was there to hold my hand, making sure that there was a bright future ahead of me. But holding his cold hand at the Emergency Room, I was helpless. Though there was nothing I could do to help ease his sufferings, I stayed by my dad's side and urged him to stay strong. I desperately watched as his eyebrows, once so dark and thick, slowly began fading away, just like the life in his eyes.
Today, on behalf of my father, Juan Carlos Concepcion, I invite you to contribute to his battle against pancreatic cancer. Every contribution, great or small, will be greatly appreciated! Together, let's give my dad the gift of hope as he celebrates his 52nd birthday this October the 18th. I love you, dad.

Sincerely from our family,

Thank you very much for your support!
