Help Joyce Davis Visit Her Sons

Donation protected
Joyce Davis -- Detroit area mother, grandmother, and cancer patient -- cannot visit her sons in prison because she has unpaid parking tickets. The Marshall Project has recently helped her tell her story:

"I have never committed a crime. The only thing on my record is tickets: parking tickets, license plate registration tickets, one for not having proof of insurance, and a couple of others—all of which are more than four years old. I don’t have any moving violations, like speeding. But I do owe $1,485."

Because of this debt, the prisons are denying her the ability to visit her sons. She is battling cancer, on a fixed income and doesn't have the money for those unpaid tickets.

"Not being able to see my children, with all this hanging over me, is devastating. For one, you never know what will happen to me with my condition, and it would be devastating to not be with them, to not hold them close, ever again."

The funds raised by this campaign will help Joyce pay off her parking tickets and fees, so that she can visit her two sons. Any funds over $1,485 will go toward all of the processing fees and giving Joyce a little extra money to use for transportation to the prisons.

Equal Justice Under Law, a national civil rights non-profit based in Washington, D.C., is representing Ms. Davis in her fight to see her sons and is working to help Ms. Davis pay off her tickets with the help of generous GoFundMe donors.
