Hi everyone, I'm Travis Criddle, and this fundraiser is for Joy Academy in Migori County, Kenya. They are a school and orphanage, which cares for 216 children. Their donations have steadily been going down over the past few years, and now they're struggling to provide food for the children, food for the headmaster Gideon's family, and important registration documents which are needed by April 29. These documents have a fee in Kenya, and they need at least $380 more in order to continue operation. With closer to $1,000, they would be able to make up some of the food bill deficit they've got, and start receiving more food from their local supplier. Of course, any amount over that will be invaluable to them. The school's operating budget is a little over $3,000 per month, and they are funded almost entirely by donations.

I've personally known the headmaster, Gideon, for about 8 years. We collaborated and shared ideas in the early stages of my Road to Rome project, on topics like crowdfunding and engagement. I've spoken a bit with his wife Jesca, and a few of his children. His oldest, Tracy, has just had to withdraw from university due to lack of funds. This is a man, and a family, which has been making a titanic struggle, at great cost to their own lives, to maintain this school and orphanage. I'm hoping we can rekindle his hope and support him, his family, and these kids.
