My name is Taylor Truax, and I am creating this fundraiser for my husband, Joshua, who is only 28 years old and is currently fighting for his health after a frightening and life-threatening medical emergency.
For the past three years, Joshua has struggled with severe varicose veins. He sought medical help from multiple doctors over the years and was consistently told to wear compression stockings and that the issue would eventually improve. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
On June 4, 2026, at approximately 10:30 AM while he was at work, Joshua suddenly felt a pop in his leg. Within minutes, his leg swelled to the size of a baseball. Knowing something was seriously wrong, he went to Hanover Hospital to be evaluated.
After an ultrasound, doctors discovered that a vein in his leg had ruptured, causing superficial venous insufficiency (SVI), a condition where the veins are unable to properly return blood to the heart, causing blood to pool in the legs and increasing the risk of serious complications. During that same evaluation, doctors also found multiple blood clots in his leg.
When Joshua mentioned that he had been experiencing chest pain and shortness of breath, doctors immediately ordered a CT scan of his chest. The results were heartbreaking and terrifying. The scan revealed approximately a dozen blood clots in his lungs.
One of the doctors told us that if Joshua had not come to the hospital when he did, there was a strong possibility that he may not have survived much longer. As a wife, hearing those words is something I will never forget.
Joshua is currently admitted to Hanover Hospital and is being treated with blood thinners and closely monitored by his medical team. Due to a recent job change, our health insurance does not become active until July 1st. Before he can be discharged from the hospital, he must have a prescription for blood thinners, and the most affordable option available to us is approximately $450 out of pocket.
On top of that, Joshua has been told he cannot return to work for at least 2–3 weeks while he recovers. Losing his income during this time, combined with medical expenses, prescriptions, and household bills, has placed an enormous financial strain on our family.
Those who know Joshua know that he is one of the hardest working, most caring people you could ever meet. He has always been the one helping others, and now he is the one in need.
While this situation is overwhelming, we are choosing to place our faith in God and trust Him to guide us through this difficult season. We are incredibly thankful for the prayers, support, and encouragement we have already received.
If you feel led to donate, any amount, big or small, will help cover Joshua’s medications, medical expenses, lost wages, and other necessities while he focuses on healing. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please keep Joshua in your prayers and share this fundraiser with others.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us during one of the most difficult times of our lives. Your support means more than words can ever express.
With love and gratitude,
Taylor Truax ❤️
On behalf of my husband, Joshua Truax, and our family.
