Josh is at Frazier Rehabilitation Institute in Louisville KY. He is in the Disorder of Consciousness Program called Emerge. This program is very rare and we were blessed to get him in.
His insurance will only pay for 31 days, and they would like to keep him for 10 weeks. He has been denied Medicaid, because he made to much money in November and December.
We are desperate, he is making progress and completing this program is his best chance for the best recovery possible.
We are exploring all options including charities, grants, and self pay.
We have been told that it will cost between $1,800 and $2,200 a day for just the hospital stay, not including the physician's bills.
As of now his release date is April 4th so any funds collected before then will give him more time to receive this invaluable therapy!
Please see Josh's original story below.
Early in the morning of January 27th, Josh was senselessly and brutally attacked when bringing his dogs in from a walk. He is in ICU fighting to get back to us. So far, he has had two surgeries to relieve the pressure from swelling and brain bleeds. At this point Josh has not regained consciousness, we do not know what Josh's future looks like, but we do know that it is going to be a long journey.
Everyone knows a person - be it a friend, child, sibling or partner - that lights up a room, that always getting involved, inspiring chaos, and cracking jokes just to see others smile. Josh has been that light for many people. If you know him, you know that he is fighting to get back to the life he loves.
Thank you to everyone sending well wishes and prayers, please feel free to express them here.
Direct messages to the family have been appreciated, but while we navigate this difficult situation please understand if we do not respond.
