<div>On July 21st, our lives were turned upside down when Jose, a 42 year-old father and husband, suddenly suffered a life-threatening cerebral aneurysm rupture resulting in a subarachnoid hemorrhage. He was rushed to the ICU, and the road ahead is uncertain. The medical bills are already piling up, and unfortunately, because Jose holds only a work permit, he does not qualify for Medicaid. Unfortunately, our family is not in a stable financial position to afford private health insurance at this time. The road to recovery remains uncertain, especially because once he is discharged from the hospital, he will not be provided with any form of physical, speech, or occupational therapy. This is due to the fact that he does not have any health insurance coverage, and without it, access to essential rehabilitation services has been denied. The hospital has informed us that the only federally funded facility he could be transferred to currently has no available beds. As a result, he will have to be discharged and sent home under our care, without access to any rehabilitation services. This is truly heart-wrenching, as he urgently needs continued support to have a chance at meaningful recovery.

<div>Jose is not only a devoted father to two wonderful children, but he is also an amazing and supportive husband. His wife, has been by his side constantly, as his condition is severe and unknown. Because of this, his wife has been forced to take unpaid time off work to ensure that Jose receives the care he desperately needs, as she does not have any paid time off.

Esto se debe a que no cuenta con ningún tipo de cobertura médica, y sin ella, se le ha negado el acceso a servicios esenciales de rehabilitación.

<div>El hospital nos informó que la única instalación financiada con fondos federales a la que podría ser transferido no tiene camas disponibles en este momento. Como resultado, tendrá que ser dado de alta y enviado a casa bajo nuestro cuidado, sin acceso a los servicios de rehabilitación que tanto necesita. Esta situación nos parte el corazón, ya que José necesita urgentemente apoyo continuo para tener una oportunidad real de recuperación significativa.

<div>José no solo es un padre devoto de dos hijos maravillosos, sino también un esposo increíble y muy solidario. Su esposa ha estado a su lado constantemente, ya que su condición es grave y aún incierta. Debido a esto, ella se ha visto obligada a tomar tiempo libre sin goce de sueldo para asegurarse de que José reciba el cuidado que desesperadamente necesita, ya que no cuenta con días pagados por enfermedad o licencia.
