Help Josue, Lourdes and Maritza Romualdo Rebuild

Donation protected
By now you have probably heard about the devastating fires in Superior and Louisville, Colorado that destroyed more than 1,000 homes in a matter of hours on December 30th. Miraculously no one lost their lives, but sadly hundreds families lost everything, and because of the speed of the fire, did not even have an opportunity to get valuables from their homes when the evacuation orders came.

Our friend Josue Romualdo, his sister Lourdes and his mom Maritza are one such family whose home was lost.

For those who do not know this incredibly kind and tight-knit family, Maritza came to the US from El Salvador and raised her two amazing children by herself. She worked as a cleaning lady to make ends meet, and became a small business owner. The culmination of her American dream was buying a home for her family.

It was in this home that we all celebrated Josue's college graduation, a first for his family, followed by Lourdes' a couple of years later. Mariza served us her homemade papusas and beamed with pride. During the pandemic, Josue returned to his home in Colorado to be close to his family after they suffered the terrible loss of two of Maritza's brothers in El Salvador from Covid.

Josue has been a member of the dance community in Colorado for more than a decade, where he grew from an awkward teenager into the confident and (sometimes unintentionally) hilarious young man we all know and love. He has shared his passion with everyone with whom he's shared a dance floor over the years. This amazing community has risen to support its members without fail, and we ask you do it again. Please pass this on to everyone you know, share it on social media, and let's show this family what community and connection is all about.

This money won't replace what they've lost, but it will help them rebuild.

Thank you in advance, and here's to a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year ahead!

So GoFundMe can rest easy knowing we aren't committing fraud: My name is Kathy Changeux and my teammate, Eileen Waukau, and I have been friends with Josue for over a decade. More like family at this point. We all met at Streetside Studios in Boulder, where we spent countless hours dancing, laughing, sometimes crying (I'm thinking Thursdays, week three of Summer Camp) together. We have experienced many happy times and some sad ones together over the years. These funds will be used by Josue and his family to replace things lost when their home was destroyed by fire. I'm sure they will need new clothing, food, furniture, housewares, everything in our homes that can be replaced. We would like the money to go directly to the family for them to use at their discretion and according to their needs.
