Jorge Mejía is Diana’s uncle, and this fundraiser is for Jorge and his wife, who live in Barrio La Villa in Pereira, Colombia. Their family is devastated after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake caused catastrophic damage to Jorge’s home. The house he called home was severely destroyed, leaving him without a safe place to live and with the heartbreaking loss of almost everything he had. Seeing the place where Jorge lived and built his life reduced to rubble has been incredibly painful for the family. In a matter of moments, everything changed. One of the hardest parts of this tragedy is that Jorge lost his three beloved cats who were inside the home when it collapsed. They were not just pets—they were his companions and part of his family. Losing them along with his home has made this experience even more heartbreaking.

 Right now, Jorge needs help with the most basic necessities: a safe place to stay, food, clothing, personal belongings, cleanup, and eventually rebuilding his home. The family is doing everything they can to help him, but recovering from something this devastating is more than they can handle alone. That is why they are reaching out to friends, family, and anyone who may be willing to help. Any donation, no matter how small, can make a difference. Every dollar will help Jorge get through these first difficult days and begin rebuilding his life. If donating is not possible, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much.
