Jon and Melissa Gustafson are currently at the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock due to a diagnosis of preeclampsia: a pregnancy complication characterized by high blood pressure and signs of damage to another organ system. The only way to cure/stop it is induced labor and delivery.
Little Mackenzie may have to come out more than five months early.
Although the staff at Dartmouth-Hitchcock have been fantastic with all of them, this fundraiser is to help ease the financial burdens of medical bills and living costs due to these unexpected hardships. The money will be used to help cover expenses until September, as Melissa is required to be on bedrest until then and cannot work.
Jon is a dispatcher for the Carroll County Sheriff's Office. Melissa works with the Head Start program in Rochester and volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire. They recently got married last year.
