<div>Stelt u zich eens voor; 24 uur per dag, 7 dagen in de week, iedere dag moet u over u schouder kijken, waakzaam zijn voor gevaar op iedere hoek, in auto's of personen die u tegen komt, u agenda aanpassen zodat de kans lager is dat u wederom te maken krijgt met geweld, misbruik of andere vormen van dreiging, niet meer kunnen sporten, niet meer zonder veiligheidsmaatregelen leven, niet aanwezig kunnen zijn bij de uitvaart van een vriendin, niet vrij kunnen bewegen omdat er in het land gebieden als risicovol zijn aangewezen. Meerdere keren per week opnieuw een traumatische ervaring mee te maken? Hulpverleners die het complex noemen, zich machteloos voelen en geen oplossingen hebben op korte termijn? Een veilige plek die er niet geboden kan worden, lange wachttijden. Zou u zich zo’n leven kunnen voorstellen?

<div>Wij niet. Onze vriendin Jolijn* wel. Zij leeft in deze situatie. In haar leven is zij opgegroeid in onveiligheid, geweld en misbruik. Echter kennen wij Jolijn als een hardwerkende vrouw, positief, vol van humor, doorzettingsvermogen en vechtlust. Toch is zij diegene die eenzaam vecht tegen een oneerlijke strijd. Een strijd waar alle betrokken (overheid) instanties zoekend zijn naar een oplossing, waar hulpverleners terugdeinzen en ondertussen blijft er traumatisering plaats vinden en raakt zij meer en meer in de problemen.

<div>Opgeven? Nee, Jolijn zou niet willen, haar missie om in de toekomst andere vrouwen te helpen is een grote drijfveer. Echter na het zoveelste incident waarbij de plegers hun straf ontlopen en zij achter blijft met botbreuken, wonden en kosten raakt ze klem. Jolijn heeft complexe PTSS ontwikkeld door haar traumatische ervaringen in haar leven en nog steeds. Om veilig te kunnen zijn moet zij veelvuldig op anonieme locaties verblijven welke een financiële bijdrage vragen of volledig zelf bekostigd moeten worden. Geld dat inmiddels er niet meer is.

<div>Daarom vragen wij u hulp, om eigen bijdragen, volledige onkosten voor veilige onderkomens te kunnen betalen waardoor Jolijn veilig kan zijn, zorgkosten die niet vergoed worden te kunnen bekostigen en inkomstenverlies op te vangen. <div>Imagine having to look over your shoulder 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Imagine having to be constantly vigilant for danger around each corner, danger from cars or persons you meet, having to adjust your diary in order to lower the chance that once again you will have to deal with violence, abuse, and threats in all forms. Imagine being unable to sport, not being able to live without safety measures, unable to attend the funeral of a friend, and unable to move freely because parts of the country are marked as too high risk. Imagine experiencing traumatic experiences multiple times per week. Imagine having therapists and agencies who call it complex, who feel powerless and don't have any solutions on a short term.

<div>We can't. Our friend Jolijn* can. She lives this life, in this situation. During her life she has grown up in unsafety, violence, and abuse. However, we know Jolijn as a hardworking woman, positive, filled with humour, perseverance and fighting spirit. Yet she is the one fighting alone in an unfair battle. A fight where all the (government) agencies involved are searching for a solution, where therapists shy away from this difficult situation. Meanwhile, more traumatic experiences occur and she gets into more and more difficulties.

<div>Give up? That is not an option for Jolijn, her mission to help other women in the future is a huge motivation for her. However, after the umpteenth incident where the perpetrators escape their punishment, she gets left behind with broken bones, wounds, and immense costs. Jolijn has developed complex PTSD due to her traumatic experiences in her life, and the ongoing traumatization. In order to be safe she often has to stay at anonymous locations. These locations either ask for a financial contribution or she has to pay for them in full on her own. At this point all her money has gone towards this and there is nothing left.

<div>This is why we ask your help, to help Jolijn be safe, to help her pay medical expenses that do not get covered, and to help absorb her loss of income due to forced absense from her job. Will you please help us give our friend a piece of life?
