Early on Monday 26th November, Johnny was walking home alone from Chapel street when he came to the aid of two women being harassed by two men. The men proceeded to viciously assault him using a metal bollard, and once he was unconscious, a chair. They have since been arrested and charged. Johnny was rushed to The Alfred Hospital with facial trauma requiring plastic surgery to his lip, as well as a shattered and dislocated ankle that required emergency orthopaedic surgery. His recovery is going to be long and arduous and he’s going to have an extended period without work. As he is self employed, he has no opportunity for paid leave and no income protection. This has also dashed Johnny’s hopes of playing for Australia in next years footy World Cup.
We are hoping to raise some money for Johnny to help with his rehab as well as his living costs while he is recovering.
Any donation big or small will be a great help! Thank you so much!
