Fighting for My Future: John's Kidney Journey

Asking for help is something I've always struggled with. My nature is to be independent and work hard for everything I have. However, with my medical bills spiraling out of control, the hospital recommended I reach out for support, and so here I am, humbled but hopeful.

My name is John Garcia, and I'm a dad to two wonderful daughters. Almost two years ago, my life changed dramatically when I was diagnosed with Stage 5 kidney failure. Since then, I've been on disability and undergo dialysis three times a week to keep my body functioning.

Despite my critical health condition, the amount I receive from disability disqualifies me from the Medicaid I need. This means the vital procedures required to keep me eligible for a life-saving kidney transplant are simply out of my financial reach.

I've been incredibly touched by the friends who have already offered their help, and I truly appreciate every bit of it. This journey is incredibly challenging, but I'm determined to keep fighting for my health and for my girls.
