UPDATE #2:

As of Friday, July 18, 2025, it has been 12 days since Joel and Bre were evacuated from their home in Chapel Hill, NC. These past 12 days have been an emotional whirlwind—ranging from feelings of isolation to overwhelming gratitude for the love and support from friends and colleagues. The weight of it all has started to take a toll.

While they are relieved to finally have a new place to call home, they are also exhausted—physically, mentally, and emotionally. In less than two weeks, they’ve endured an emergency evacuation, packed up their life, moved their belongings into storage, searched for a new home, and now are transitioning once again—this time moving from the storage unit into their new apartment. With a roof over their heads once more, they are finally able to process the events of the past days, and it’s understandably been a heavy experience.

Your contributions have been a lifeline. Donations have helped cover essentials like moving supplies, food, gas, two storage unit rentals, and the deposit, electricity, and rent for their new home—plus a bit of Tylenol for the inevitable stress headaches. Importantly, your generosity has allowed them to take time off work to focus on relocating and settling in. As we all know, life doesn’t pause when disaster strikes, and bills don’t stop coming. These donations have provided much-needed breathing room during an incredibly challenging time.

For those who don’t know or don’t understand why we are asking for donations for Joel and Bre. Joel is a full-time student at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, while Bre is their main breadwinner. This is our way of supporting him to keep him in grad school.

UPDATE:

As of Wed., July 9th, Joel & Bre officially became homeless. They were forced to move out of their apartment due to the stench of the wet floors and walls.

Please help support Joel & Bre with any amount possible. It is quite stressful to have to suddenly vacate your home. Then lose out on income for having to move due to a natural disaster.

Joel & Bre truly appreciate the Love & Support they have been receiving, however, we still have a goal to meet for their needs. Which include searching for a new home, replacing food that was spoiled when the power went out, replacing furniture and any other necessities that were a total loss. Hello Friends & Family,

Today I would like to ask for your assistance in support of my Son, Joel Begay, and his Fiancé, Breanna Anderson. They live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and were hit by a Tropical Depression on Sunday, July 6th. Their apartment was flooded last night. Their insurance won't cover the flood damage; therefore, all expenses will be paid out of pocket. They are in the process of moving out of their apartment as I write this. They are in dire need of financial assistance as this emergency puts them out of work while they move, causing them to lose income temporarily.
