Help Joe see Joe on Joes Birthday

Hi,

 My name is Joseph, I created this GoFundMe to request the help of others, my father who is in his 80s just suffered through a flooding in Sumas, Washington. Sumas was one of the towns that received the Pacific River rains earlier this week. 11/15.

 

My father is Milton "Joe" Forbes. A Retired Navy Veteran, who has been displaced from his home. He is fighting Lung cancer and is now at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham Washington. He is vaccinated, however a call this morning (11/18) he has been diagnosed with Covid.

 

I am asking for the help of anyone and everyone. I wish to raise $5000, in total to handle affairs if in case my father doesn't make it. I have personally taken a loan, to get myself to Seattle Washington on November 22 or 23rd. I need help to afford rental, and temporary stay until I get things figured out.

 

One way flight with Alaskan Airlines from SAT to SEA, is ~$400 (taxes, baggage), Rental cars are available at SEA but initial costs are in the $500~. I only expect to rent a vehicle for a week. After that if flooding didn't destroy his car, then I'll be using his vehicle.

 

Afterwards, I have no immediate idea what next. I expect to stay in a hotel for a few days, but if my father makes it out of the hospital, it's about trying to sort out his living situation.

 

 

 

Help me, please.

 

 

 

He lives at this Residential Community Home, however, it was somewhat under water Tuesday (11/16).

Besides the initial costs ~$1000, My estimates for what it will take to clean Joe's home and any repairs on his vehicle. Hotels in the Bellingham area are open, and are at a cost per night, close to $180/per night. Gas in Washington is not as cheap as it is in Texas. Another $200 on gas. If my father's vehicle isn't severely damaged then clean up costs (no estimate because we don't know) if engine/electronics are fine, then detailing floorboards ($130 ~ 250) If his vehicle is totaled then I don't know what his insurance situation is like.

 

If all else fails, another ~$500 to ship salvageable keepsakes, Uhaul costs... and Gas.

 

My father has friends in Washington, so I am not worried about food or where to stay once I am in contact with people. I just need help.

 

 

 UPDATE 1 :  As of this afternoon, Joe also has pneumonia as well. 

 

 Rental Vehicle Costs : $80 per day for a small Economy car. 
Hotel Stay for 4 days : $130 per day. 

UPDATE 2 :  After talking with Joe, he is sounding better.  He has been given proper treatment for covid, and the hospital is handling his care well.  As for his pet (dog) and housing, I am already in contact with a Case Manager.   Not sure about his pet dog. Someone is currently watching his dog.    

 

 I presume I am incorrect about which river flooded Sumas.  only Sumas river is in Sumas.  it as well, flooded.   Nooksack affected Bellingham and the surrounding areas.  As well as Sumas River.  Attached to Sumas River, is Johnson Creek.  Which as well flooded.   Washington got a lot of rain.
