Help Joe and Tina after surgery expenses

On December 21st, I took Joe to the ER after he fainted multiple times. After a few days at Spotsy Regional and lots of tests, they found a mass in his heart. They transferred him to Mary Washington, and he had open heart surgery with Dr. Na on Monday, Dec 30th, to remove it. The mass is benign, thank God. He’s recovering well, and we’re grateful to have caught it early. This has been such an overwhelming ordeal, so we chose to keep it more private and reach out to those who we’re closest to about it until the surgery was complete. We’ve already had SO much support and I’m so grateful for how loving and compassionate our community is.
We’re overwhelmed and this has been an incredibly emotional couple of weeks, but I’m SO grateful that things turned out the way they did. I’m grateful that it happened during a season where we had more of a financial cushion (since we both have been so busy with work). I’m grateful that it happened when I had already planned a decent amount of time off. I’m glad that it was around the holidays so that our family could be near. I’m so grateful that we caught this early, as the situation could have been much worse.
The healing process will take at least 3 months, and as a delivery driver, Joe won’t likely be able to return to work until after that period. I’ll also be taking more time away from work to help him recover. We worked out the numbers, and we’ll need about $15,000 to cover our everyday bills and general needs over the next few months. Anything extra that we raise will go towards Joe’s medical bills. If you are in a position where you’re willing and able to donate, we would be so appreciative.
