Help João Miguel Dias fly back home.

My name is Diego Caetano. I am a concert pianist and a professor. I am fundraising on behalf of João's mom, Cristina Dias.

João Miguel Dias is my graduate piano student at Sam Houston State University. A wonderful talented pianist, and a great friend. We all love him.

Three months ago, he started feeling unwell. At first, the doctors in the USA could not figure out what he had. I called his mom in Portugal and told her that I was going to put him on the next plane home. During his journey home from Houston to Portugal with a layover in Germany, things got worse. He was rushed to a hospital where they discovered he had a rare case of leukemia. On top of that, they discovered fungi in the brain. He is in Germany, Frankfurt ICU since then, and his case is getting more serious by the day. His mom is living in his hospital room. She is fighting for her son's life and wants to bring him to his home country, Portugal, to be close to friends and family.

Since his condition is very fragile, he needs a special ICU plane to get home, and it cost 27,000 euros. I hope this fundraiser will help alleviate some of her worries at this time.
