Help Joana Get To College
Donation protected
My name is Joana Guerrero and I am proud to share that I will be graduating from Wahluke High School Class of 2025 and Columbia Basin College with an associate's degree! My journey with education does not stop there. This fall, I'll be attending Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington. I'm starting the BS in Communication and Science disorders program as I would like to have a career as an SLPA. I will be a first-generation college student and I am excited to continue making my parents and community proud.
In these last few years, my mom has been experiencing a lot of medical illnesses and complications. This was one reason I did my associate's program online, to spend time with her and help her with her medical issues. My dad has also been experiencing medical complications but has fortunately been able to continue working. I will also be looking for a job to help with my expenses, but I am reaching out today to my community for support in lieu of graduation gifts. If you have the ability to support this fundraiser, I would greatly appreciate it! My parents especially would be very thankful for the support as we have been discussing how I will cover these expenses that are outside of tuition. As first-generation immigrants in this country, we know the importance of getting an education. I am excited to continue learning and making our community proud.
While I have received some financial aid, there are other expenses that I will be covering on my own. These expenses include:
- Rent
- College textbooks
- Gas (Mattawa is about 2 hours away from EWU-Cheney) and I am hoping to visit home to spend time with my mom whenever possible (she continues to go through surgeries and I would like to be at her side during weekends)
- Food expenses
Any donation will support me with these expenses and will help with my college journey. I appreciate you taking time to read my story!
