<div>I am raising funds to help my husband and I get back up from several significant devastations. The most traumatic and alarming is his left leg injury as a direct result of having been struck and pinned underneath a City of Albuquerque-owned truck on May 30, 2025 while riding his bicycle. He suffered a non-displaced tibial plateau fracture and two fractured metatarsal heads with additional injuries that caused major financial setbacks in our lives. His surgery was on June 9, 2025. He has needed eleven months of healing and he is still recovering, and, with physical therapy, healing has been steady. His surgeon says that his foot will be swollen for a year. I personally haven't been able to escape the horrifying thought that if he were struck one split second sooner, it more than likely would have killed him. Right here is where I would like to install his narrative, directly from him:

<div>Mervyn here, presently in life-changing recovery and ongoing healing. The drastic unforeseen switch from being a steady provider to asking for help on my way to a hopeful complete restoration is in my narrative. As a survivor and a fighter, I have taken on a new role to introduce my horrific experience and offer recommendations to address the lack of City of Albuquerque (CABQ) policies/procedures/ordinances that could prevent future substantial harm and tragic loss of life by vehicle/bicyclists collisions and to speak to the critical issues of no consequences for "reckless" CABQ employee drivers who cause injury and death using CABQ property. This is not a new narrative as numerous other bicyclists have been injured or killed and left without recourse by a City that has destroyed Evidence pertaining to the tragedy of my Case: ie., Traffic camera footage has been deleted for May 30, 2025; an Albuquerque Police Department (APD) Public Service Aide (PSA) falsified his New Mexico Crash Investigation report; the same PSA deleted his Lapel Camera footage of the Incident; two CABQ Metro Security Division reports are faulty as both officers on site never interviewed me, filed reports that misspelled my name and gave a falsified account as well. Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller stated (on June 16, 2025) that he would respond to me in writing [he never has] and just about every CABQ department has refused to assist me in finding resolution, including the APD that overturned a favorable decision on my behalf by the CABQ Civilian Police Oversight Agency. The silence of my plea for assistance is ear splitting loud and explosive. There is no recourse for me except to enter the legal arena but that is not affordable at this time in this new economy.

<div>Joanna: A few days after my husband's misfortune, our only vehicle could no longer be driven. My van had been sitting at the curb without any answers to the rear wheel axle ready to bottom out. I had to sell my van to meet our financial responsibilities. For the purpose of finding resolution, my husband had to hobble around town on crutches last summer in the heat of the sun to meet the CABQ timelines to file a claim which has been denied. He would come home exhausted with tremendous pain and a badly swollen foot that looked like it was a balloon. Double whammy!

<div>Income had already diminished due to my mother's passing. I was her caregiver. We held each other up. Now she is gone. It has been an extreme struggle to bring in income with my own undiagnosed disabilities and without a vehicle for over eight months. We are dangerously behind on what it takes to keep us housed and safe. Triple Whammy!
