Help Jo recover from cancer

Donation protected
Hello, I’m Sarah and I am raising money for my friend Jo who is going through a really awful time. I met Jo when were both in hospital in 2018 with severe post natal depression. We struck up a friendship during the months we spent there with our babies.

After the birth of her second child, Jo continues to battle with mental health issues. Then, in early May she was diagnosed with stage 2 cervical cancer.

Jo has no one supporting her and her little girl (1) and boy (3) as she undergoes intensive treatment. She has suffered extensive abuse from those closest to her, and is too unwell to work.

But, despite all this, she has been fighting to keep a roof over her two children’s heads, and to keep her family together and safe.

We’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated to the first crowdfunder in February, and to all those who shared it.

The money has been an absolute lifeline for Jo and her kids. Your support has meant that she has been pay her rent and feed her children, while undergoing extensive treatment.

No one wants to be in a position where it’s necessary to ask for help, and no one wishes more than Jo that this ordeal was over.

But, after more investigation it turns out that the cancer has now spread to her bowel. She has had to undergo yet more surgery and radiotherapy and needs help to get through this next stage.

We are giving the crowdfunder another push - and we would be so grateful for your support. We have upped the target to raise £20,000 by the end of May to get her through this next stage of treatment.

The sad and shocking truth is that there is next to no financial support for people left destitute by cancer - be that from the government or charities.

There is light at the end of the tunnel.

If the cancer responds to treatment Jo will be able to accept a job offer at a top London university and get back on her feet, and give her kids a good life, which is all she wants.

The money raised for this is of course a huge practical help, but more than that, I’ve seen how it relieves the enormous stress and burden on Jo’s shoulders at the time when she is least able to bear it.

Here's how you can help:

1. Donate
to the crowdfunder - every donation is such a great support

2. Share the crowfunder
online with some words of encouragement to your friends & family. Sharing makes a HUGE difference as it means many more people see this post and have the opportunity to donate.

Thank you so much for your support,
Sarah and Jo xx
