Jim & Suzy Robinson's Flood Relief

My name is Andrew Robinson, and I have created this page to ask people to help my parents, Jim and Suzy Robinson after their home has been flooded by Hurricane Harvey.
What Happened
On Monday, August 28th, my parents (Jim & Suzy Robinson) had to be rescued by boat from their home in West Houston after Hurricane Harvey hit. In the following days, the nearby Addick’s Reservoir reached capacity and over flowed, causing the waters in their home to rise higher. While we don’t know the exact height, we expect there is currently 4-5 feet of water. The greatest blessing is that no one was hurt, and they were able to get out of the home safely.
In the 38 years my parents have owned this house since moving here from New Orleans, this is the first time they’ve experienced any sort of flooding. This was Alex's and my childhood home. We’ve experienced many hurricanes and tropical storms before and never had any issues (even during Allison).
The Situation
When my dad when to make a flood claim to their insurance company, they were informed that their policy had been canceled in 2015 after their insurance representative retired. They were never notified of this.
Bottom line… They have no flood insurance.
What Is Needed
Once the waters recede, we’ll have a better idea of what kind of damage has actually occurred. We are going to do as much work as possible ourselves, and will be reaching out to family and friends for [wo]man power for help in ripping up carpet, knocking out drywall, pulling out wet insulation, as well as spraying down everything with bleach. After this, we will need specialized services to be able to put the pieces back together.
Electricians, contractors, plumbers, painters and refinishers are just a few of the specialized skilled folks I know who will be needed. The funds raised would go towards paying for these services as well as helping reduce the burden of with replacing furniture, clothing and appliances. I would love to say this can all be done for less than $10,000, but I know it will be much more.
I know my parents are not the only family to be affected by Hurricane Harvey, but I hope this page will help give them piece of mind knowing that others are thinking of them.
