My parents adopted Jethro a few years ago and he quickly became a very special part of our family. This past year his health went downhill quickly, the vet strongly suspecting leaky gut syndrome. Bloodwork and urine tests show he is leaking protein, but they can’t confirm without a biopsy. He was put on metronidazole, which did help for a short time, but stopped working two months ago. The medications killed off any good bacteria left in his gut, and now he is extremely reluctant to eat as everything hurts him. He cries if you touch his abdomen or anywhere near it and it’s heartbreaking. He needs multiple tests to figure out exactly where the protein is leaking from so the vet can prescribe a treatment plan that will hopefully ease Jethro’s pain and let him live a normal life.
Jethro is such an important little guy to our family. My parents raised six children and give a loving home to animals without a thought. I hope we can find the funds for these tests and future medication regiment for Jethro so he as well as my parents can get back to enjoying life again.
