Help Jessica and her family secure a home

Dear friends, family and those who might happen across this appeal.
My friend Jessica Chilombo was forced to return to Zimbabwe after many years working in South Africa following an outbreak of xenophobic violence in 2019.
She's now, like so many others, struggling to support herself and her family and was recently informed that the house in Chakari that the family has lived in since her husband died will no longer be available for occupation. They have an opportunity to buy the land, or alternatively, another house.
For now I am hoping to be able to help Jessica and her family raise enough for the land - but of course I ultimately hope to raise enough for them to buy a home (around$16 000 so a pretty big ask of everyone at this difficult time).
I know appeals like this are multiple and that so many people are just trying to survive, especially following the past year. However, if you are in a position to contribute even a small amount, it would make a meaningful difference in the life of a friend.
Jessica's son Matthew is pictured here. He finished school with very good results and is hoping to be the first in his family to complete a degree. If he does, it has a chance of changing his family's life and we are doing our best to help Matthew with his university payments so he can get a qualification.
When we reach the target, I will use WorldRemit, Western Union or Wise (previously TransferWise) to get the money to Jessica in Zimbabwe, depending on which option carries less fees. I use the first 2 of these 3 to send money to her every month for food so we have a well-established flow and I am confident that the transfer will be seamless.
