Help Jerson pursue his dream to study
Donation protected
Through our project Food for thought we met Jerson this spring when visiting the Philippines. Jerson got adopted by Diana Rose´s (our previous student that we sponsored) grandmother when his biological mother abandoned him as a baby. He and Diana Rose grew up together and are now family and best friends. Jerson managed to go to university for one semester but had to quit since his family couldn't financially support him. Usually students starts at the age of 16 and finish when they are 20 years old. Jerson is now 19 years old without a college degree, and all he wishes for is the possibility do start studying. His aim is to study a Bachelor of science in medical technology, and after that being able to support himself and his family.
Our goal is to sponsor Jerson the coming four years through Food for thought.
About Food for thought:
Food For Thought is a project founded by Elin Karlsson in 2015.
It all started in 2007 when Elin went to Mindoro (one of the islands in the Philippines) via a school charity project and got to meet the locals in the poorer districts of the island. Since then she has been in touch with some young women and their families. In 2015, one of the women asked Elin for financial support in order to send one of her daughters to university. Which meant that it would be a commitment for at least four years. It was then that Elin decided to expand her personal project and asked Marvil Iglesias, Louie Indriana, Andrea Nicole Fredriksson, and Dalena Tran to help organizing a fundraiser for the beneficiary named Diana Rose, hence the project was born.
The following years Elin and Marvil continued the project Food for thought and during these years they have organized dance battles, performances, workshops and street shows in the cause of Diana Rose´s education. They are now four years into the project and after several events and fundraisers, Diana Rose completed her studies and graduated this April. Elin and Marvil visited her and her family in February and thats when they met Jerson.
Cost for a student per year:
10 000 -12 000 Swedish kr (1 000-1 200 Euro) per year, in order to cover the basic cost of the education.
