Fundraiser for Jeri's Recovery

In 2013 my mother, Jeri Mannino (in the picture with my sister, Mariella), had a stroke. While she recovered, she had difficulty walking. She was then laid off from her job of 35 years, and took up driving Uber to make ends meet while hoping to qualify for disability to help ease her financial strain.

However, she cannot work enough to cover her bills and she makes too much money per month (over 1000$) to qualify for disability. My sister and I (her son) have done our best to support her financially and emotionally during this hard time.

However, on Aug. 10th, 2018, due to her struggle walking, she fell and broke her arm. Driving Uber with one arm would put both her and others in danger. She is now unable to make any money.

This comes at a very unfortunate time. I was laid off from my job, and while I have another job lined up, I will not see my first paycheck for nearly 2 months. Neither me nor my sister can cover her for the next 2 months while she heals. Even with a job, this would be hard on me, financially.

We have calculated that she would need 5000$ to get through the next 2 months. This includes her rent, food, bill payments, and minimum medical costs.

My mother is easily the strongest, most selfless person I have ever known. As a single mother, she made countless sacrifices to raise me and my sister. Throughout her entire life, I have seen her go out of her way numerous times to help others in need for no other reason than "it's the right thing to do". She quickly makes friends with just about anyone she meets, and works to ensure everybody feels welcome around her. People often feel like they can tell her anything. She has always worked very hard to be self-reliant and not ask for anything from anyone. We really appreciate any help at all. Thank you for listening.
