Jennifer is the mother of 7 children and a wife. She is the backbone of her family. We can't imagine what the Pena's are going through. They will need help with everyday essentials like groceries and bills. Let's support them away possible.
From her daughter, Ashley.
My family and I are still in shock and it feels like we’re in this endless loop (we just got Lena back from the hospital 29 days ago).
Last Saturday, my mom and sister (Lauren) were walking across the street in Ft.Worth and got hit by a truck. My mom pushed my sister out of the way and Lauren came out with no severe injuries. My mom took the entire impact on her left side which led to a fractured eye bone and internal bleeding in her brain (the bleeding is still a little on-going and we are keeping an eye on the hemorrhage she has). My sister was discharged from the hospital that night but obviously is experiencing severe trauma.
My mom is at the John Peter Smith Hospital. She remembers her name and DOB, but the rest is very very hazy for her. She can’t recall names because her short term memory loss. She’s moved out of the ICU (as of yesterday) and we are waiting to hear back from therapists/psychiatrists on what the next steps will look like.
It hurts so much to write this out. My mom is the strongest person i know and it’s breaking all our hearts. My poor dad can’t even be with her because of COVID. She’s all by herself and confused .
I don’t know what else to say besides PLEASE pray for my mom and the strength she needs to heal her brain, eye, and memory.
As well as my sister who whiteness it all.
