Help Jenn Bring Vision to Haiti

Thanks for stopping by! For those that don't know, I have about 15 years experience in eye care (optometry and retina) and am certified through the American Optometric Association's Paraoptometric section. I've spent a lot of time learning about vision and eye disease, volunteering at community events and helping the Lions Club. I've often wanted to help those in a country with a poor economy or little access to quality eye care. My desire is becoming a reality! I'VE BEEN INVITED TO JOIN A VOSH MISSION TO HAITI THIS JULY! VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) is a non-profit org that strives to bring good vision and eye health to the planet by embarking on several mission trips a year that span the globe (including the US!). VOSH clinics can potentially provide care for 1,500 patients in 1 week! OUR TRIP: After getting settled and checking out our 1st clinic location, we will spend 2 days in Cap Haitien and 3 days in 3 different rural villages providing: Visual Acuity Testing; Intraocular Pressure Testing (glaucoma); Health Exam; Refraction (for glasses prescription); Optical (filling glasses prescription). Ophthalmology will be available for those who have eye health concerns such as advanced cataracts or retinal issues. HOW I WILL HELP: In addition to providing care and expertise, I will be covering my food, extra travel expenses (airport transportation, baggage, parking) as well as time away from work. HOW YOU CAN HELP: My goal of $2,000 will cover flight to and from Haiti, hotel, and clinic fees (each volunteer pays this fee to cover supplies like gloves, medications, tonometer probes/covers, etc) DON'T FORGET: Even if you're unable to donate to this great cause, sharing my campaign/story with friends and family helps me to reach as many people possible. ANY FUNDS RAISED BUT NOT UTILIZED ON THIS MISSION WILL BE DONATED TO VOSH FOR FUTURE MISSIONS!
