Help Jen Move Mountains

Beschermde donatie
My daughter Jennifer was diagnosed with Stage 2 Astrocytoma (brain cancer).  She had a craniotomy performed on August 3, 2018.  This particular type of cancer can never be completely removed given the characteristic of it not having what surgeons call "defined edges".  Most tumors are considered a shape (for ex: a circle), whereas Jen's tumor is best described as a star but with each point branching out and infiltrating other ares of the brain.  You can't tell by looking at Jen that she has cancer, but then again cancer doesn't illuminate a neon sign that says "Hey, this person has cancer". Since she was very young, Jen has always known what she wants to do with her life.  One of those dreams is to be a mommy.  WHEN she starts chemotherapy and radiation treatments, she will be rendered sterile and unable to conceive when she's ready to start a family.  That's the reason for this Go Fund Me.  The process exceeds $15,000 ($10,000 for the procedure and approximately $6,800 for the medication that will be needed.

Being a mom should be the LAST thing a 17 year old young lady should be worried about.  I know, as her mom, I could never imagine my life without any of my children in it.  If you're a parent, you understand just how strong that bond really is.  We're not asking that you donate hundreds or even thousands of dollars to reach our goal.  If everyone donated just a $1, that would make a bigger impact than what people realize.  Sharing this page not only helps us in reaching our goal, but also spreading awareness on this type of cancer.  On September 15, 2018 (8am) there will be a "Head For A Cure" walk being held in Rivard Plaza in Detroit.  Jen, as well as the entire family, will be participating in this walk.  So if you're interested in attending this walk/run, feel free to email me at [e-mail geredigeerd]

We've been asked if we ever thought we were being selfish for wanting to raise money to help Jen be a mommy.  Valid points were brought up

1) what if, when the baby is small, and Jen goes through treatment and isn't physically capable of taking care of her child, who's going to care for that child?
Answer: We all know that her husband will step up and she'd have the full support of her family to help if it's needed.

2) what if Jen passes away when the child is old enough to realize what's going on? Do you think it's really fair to bring a child into this world to watch his/her parent die?
Answer:  We tend to think positive.  Yes, people have passed away from this type of cancer, HOWEVER, given the advances in technology and medicine, big strides are being made every day.  We don't dwell on the negative "what ifs" in life, we focus more on staying positive.

As previously stated, please donate whatever you can and share this link as much and as often as possible.  Thank you all in advance and be blessed
