Help Jen Crush Cancer!

Donation protected
40-something Jennifer Garam is my good friend, a gifted writer/editor/teacher... and a bubbly fountain of light.

She was also just diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer.

We're gonna help her.

Here's How It Happened:

On September 2, 2018, Jen turned 43 years old. Look at this doll, beaming (as per usual) at her birthday party:

Exactly one month later, on October 2, Jen went to urgent care after a week of unexplained stomach pains. Previously, she’d had no symptoms at all, and a gyn exam just a few months before had come back clear.

Then, just one day later, Jen got a CAT scan and was told she had multiple markers of ovarian cancer.

She was rushed to the ER and immediately admitted to the hospital for a week, during which time she had two surgeries (laparoscopic biopsy and a port for chemo implanted), two more CAT scans, was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer, and started chemo.

Jen is now undergoing 9 weeks of weekly chemo, which will be followed by a major hysterectomy surgery, about 5 weeks of recovery time, and then another 9 weeks of weekly chemo.  Oy!

She's handling it all with her trademark sass and strength - and an ever-shrinking hairline.

But she can't do it alone.

Here's How You Can Help:

Thank goodness Jen has great insurance, but as a freelance writer too weakened by unexpected chemo treatments to work, she suddenly has no income - and no savings.

Luckily, she has us.

(Few know this, but Jen started my writing career by producing the very first staged reading of my plays, and she didn't even know me at the time.  If you're lucky enough to know her, then she's probably touched your life in a similar way. Let's give back.)

With YOUR help, we’ll cover Jen’s living expenses and any other medically-related costs that come up during the estimated 8-month period of her treatment and recovery, as she focuses on her health and healing.

Please join Team Jen and GIVE WHAT YOU CAN - as soon as you can!

And then SHARE THIS FUNDRAISER!

And follow this latest chapter in Jen’s story, as she chronicles her experiences with her trademark authenticity, humility and humor on Instagram @jennifergaram .

Thank you so much for anything you can contribute. We deeply appreciate your love, generosity, and support as we help Jen erase ovarian cancer from the pages of her young life!
