My name is Jeff, and I live with my fiancé, Jami Lynn. We recently found ourselves in a crisis after both losing our jobs at The Melting Pot due to a car accident that prevented us from working for several days. Even though we had doctors’ notes, we were let go, and now we’re both struggling to find stable employment. Jami Lynn just started working at Amazon, and I’m waiting for my background check to clear so I can start working too.

 Unfortunately, our landlord has made things even harder for us. He only accepts cash, refuses to provide receipts, and became angry when we asked for his business contact information. When we tried to get help from the YMCA to cover our rent, our landlord refused to cooperate and instead threatened us with eviction. On the 6th, he came to our apartment with two men, unlocked our door, and told us to leave without any notice or paperwork. When we stood up for our rights, he left and returned to remove our front door, which is illegal. We called the police, but the situation remains tense and unsafe. We’re now afraid for our safety and worried about being forced out with nowhere to go.

 We’re asking for help to cover the cost of a hotel for about a week while we work with legal aid and try to secure a safe place to stay. Your support will help us get out of a dangerous situation, prevent us from becoming homeless in the middle of winter, and give us a chance to get back on our feet.
