Help Jayme get into a stable living situation

UPDATE: We have achieved our original goal of $1,000! We had no idea this fundraiser would be so successful and we are so pleased and grateful. Jayme has created some updates in the updates section of this page so you can see where things are right now. She is poised to have an apartment of her own soon thanks to your generous donations. We have increased the fundraising goal to $1,500 so that Jayme can buy essentials for her new apartment, like a bed, linens, and cleaning supplies. If you are able to contribute towards this, we would be grateful! Jamye already has access to all funds and is making important moves to get her new life set up!

My name is Susanna and I am fundraising for my friend Jayme, a trans woman just released from prison in June 2021. Jayme needs stable housing to avoid facing houselessness within the next week (week of July 5th, 2021). Any funds donated will go directly to Jayme's account for paying a deposit on an apartment to get her into a stable housing situation.

Jayme and I met through the pen pal organization called Black & Pink which connects incarcerated LGBTQIA+ folks to folks in the community on the outside. We have been corresponding since December 2020. Now that she is out of prison, she is trying to find a stable place to land on her feet. She was not able to stay at the original halfway house she was connected to as the owner evicted her on the basis of being trans in an all-male facility. Jayme has an extended motel stay through the end of next week, and has gotten a job in food service, but will not have enough funding to get through without a period of houselessness without financial support.
