<div>My name is Jay Freerksen and I am brand new to GoFundMe. I am 59 years old, married, and have 6 children and 4 grandchildren. I was diagnosed with PD, Parkinson's Disease, on my 50th birthday, but I had symptoms a few years before that. Just in case you are not familiar, PD is a progressive neurodegenerative brain disorder.

<div>My PD is progressing rapidly, sooner than I expected. Two years ago, I had a brain surgery called DBS (deep brain stimulation). It was very successful in reducing my tremors by 90%! Six months later, I had a second brain surgery for the other side of my brain. This too was very successful!

<div>Unfortunately, the surgeries do not stop the progression. <strong>I am now to the point that it is very, very difficult to walk and talk.</strong> I am now in need of a specialized power wheelchair so I can get around the house safely and securely. In addition, I would be able to go back to church and do other things that would make me more independent. This would require me to purchase a lift as well for the chair.
