*Trigger warnings: Abuse, work discrimination, queerphobia, hatecrimes*

Jay is a 19 year old biracial Black and white working class neurodivergent non binary dancer who needs funds to get housing in London to pursue their dancing career . They are currently based in Newcastle, but have been trying to leave the city for some time due to the discrimination and blacklisting they faced as an outspoken trans POC artist in the northern arts scene. They are also subject to working in spaces that their and other abusers work at or are supported, which is of course very draining on their mental health. For almost a month now They have been in unstable housing, having to stay in their family home, reliving all their traumas and constantly being triggered and dysphoric. Due to their housing situation, and their financial situation, being working class and completely self reliant, They have also had to stay longer in Newcastle than They had planned. Their location is a constant reminder of the abuse and trauma they have faced here, and it is incredibly unbearable. Their depression, anxiety and CPTSD amplifies this, and it is a constant struggle everyday to do basic tasks and things that they love because they are surrounded by all these triggers.

Alongside this they are also frequently subject to hatecrimes and harassment, especially when walking with their partner who is also visibly queer and Black. The police have turned up 6 hours late after a homophobic physical and verbal attack and hatecrime which happened to Jay and their partner Ebony, and then went on to gaslight them. It has become clear to Jay how unsafe they are and the lack of protection if anything worse was to happen. Going outside has become a huge anxiety and trigger for Jay, especially as they frequently see their abusers passing by.

Jay has been living with their partner for the last 6 months but their lease is up and they are now staying at friend house until they secure permanent housing. They have saved some money for moving but covid has put a great strain on their financial situation alongside being blacklisted in the industry.

Jay is really hopeful about moving to London and entering the queer arts scene and being part of a bigger lgbtqia+ BIPOC community. Being a trans person and sworker in a small city has been very isolating and they really want to be a part of community where they can find people like themselves with similar lived experiences and intersections. Jay is a kind and passionate sibling that wants go and explore their dance dreams and find chosen family.

They really need the funds to get permanent housing and pay for moving costs. They’ve been working multiple jobs since lockdown has ended and have saved up half of the costs for six months rent. They do not have a guarantor with a high enough wage to be eligible, so they will need to provide six months rent upfront to get a place. They greatly appreciate any redistribution of funds and community care.
