Help Jason Stay on His Feet After Losing His Housing and Income

My name is Erica, and I'm reaching out on behalf of my friend Jason, someone I've had the privilege of mentoring since his release from prison.

Jason's life has never been easy. He grew up in the foster care system, with no family to fall back on — no safety net, no one to call in a crisis. He has had to build everything from scratch, completely on his own, against odds that most of us will never fully understand.

And yet, he has fought for himself every step of the way. He got sober. In 2025, he completed Tufts' MyTERN program — a rigorous, year-long reentry initiative focused on healing trauma, building practical life skills, and developing self-confidence. He secured a job doing maintenance at Fenway Park, showing up and working hard despite living with chronic back pain. When the job became untenable due to management mistreatment and the physical toll on his body, he made the responsible choice to leave rather than risk his health and sobriety.

Now Jason is facing two devastating blows at once. He has just been told he is losing his housing at the sober house in Quincy where he was supposed to have another full year. And his SSI income has been cut off simultaneously, leaving him with nothing to fall back on.

He has no family to call. No one to wire him money or let him sleep on their couch. He has only the community he has worked hard to build — and right now, that community is you.

Jason is not someone who gives up. But even the strongest people need a hand sometimes. Your donation will help cover the basics: food, transportation, and safe housing while he gets back on stable ground.

If you can't donate, please share this. It costs nothing and could mean everything to him. These funds will go to pay the back rent owed to his landlord, to help him find a new place to rent, and to cover his expenses as he looks for work.

Thank you for seeing Jason. He deserves to be seen.
