Help Jarod get a bass

Donation protected
I have thought long and hard about whether I was going to try to reach out for help, mostly because this is difficult for me and I fear that people wouldn’t get it. But the truth is, I’m at an impasse. As most of you know, I am a musician. I have been playing bass for about 13 years now, and it has not been an easy road, especially as a person that doesn’t come from the financial backing needed to really do this thing. I have served tables, made coffee, worked retail, and bartended while in school to make this happen for myself.

I was fortunate enough to receive a full tuition scholarship to finish my masters degree at the University of Michigan starting in the fall, and I am beyond excited for this opportunity; however, I am lacking the most critical component. That component is the ownership of my own bass. I have been incredibly lucky to have friends and mentors that have allowed me borrow instruments in the recent past (3 basses in 3 years),  but now that my focus is more geared towards taking orchestral auditions, there is no way around the fact that I need a quality instrument to progress in my career.

When I move to Michigan I will continue to teach and freelance in order to support myself while in school, but I’m afraid that I will not be able to come up with enough money on my own to cover my living expenses and a major payment on an instrument.

I am planning on traveling to Bloomington Indiana the first week of June to attend the International Society of Bassists convention where I will begin the search for my dream instrument. As musicians know, a quality instrument is necessary to make it in this field and unfortunately there is no way around the cost associated with this.

I know that 30,000 is a lot of money... But I can’t do this on my own. I just can’t.
Any dollar of financial support that could help me get closer to making this dream more attainable would essentially make my life.  I have dreamed, and cried, so many times over this issue of mine.

The amount of gratitude I feel for you even reading this post and considering donating or sharing is tremendous. I have had a lot of success in the past year, and I know that I can find even more with a bass that I can grow with as I prepare for these orchestral auditions. If you are reading this and you are interested in learning more about what I have been up to during the past several years to progress and grow as a musician, if you would like to learn more about the playing opportunities I’ve had, or hear about my career goals, please reach via the email attached to this campaign or message me on Facebook. I would be very excited to share my progress, my goals, and recordings of my recent playing.

I average about 40 hours of playing each week, whether it is rehearsal, practicing, or teaching lessons with students. Every hour is truly a treasure to me. My happiest moments in life are all associated with music, and I live a life of joy pursuing this career I love.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for all of your continued support.
