Hi, my name is Sheela. I am fundraising for my best friend, January. We have been friends since we were nine years old. (I'll let you do the math) As we grew up together, she became more like my sister, and an auntie to my children, as I did to hers. She is an amazing single mother of two beautiful children, ages 17 and 14. She is so kind, caring, and empathetic; always willing to help others and now it's our turn to help her (although I had to twist her arm to allow me to start this for her; figuratively, not literally, of course. No Januarys were harmed in the making of this fund). We recently found out that January has a rare type of brain tumor that must be removed. There are only three hospitals in the nation that will treat her type of tumor. She will be having a craniotomy out-of-state on November 29th of this year. She will be traveling on Monday, November 27th and must check in on Tuesday, November 28th for pre-op. She will remain in the hospital for one week, Lord willing, and then must stay in the area for up to three weeks after. The MRI scans are indicating it's cancer, but we will not know for sure until it is removed and tested. Those results will determine whether she will need to move forward with chemo and/or radiation. We remain steadfast in our faith that God will answer our prayers for it to be benign! He is the Great Physician and we know He is still in the miracle business! Once she is back home, her recovery will be a long, challenging three months, especially depending on if or what deficits she may have post surgery. During this time, she will be unable to work. She will not only have her regular bills to pay with half her normal income, but also her medical bills, and travel and lodging expenses for surgery. What we are asking for most importantly is PRAYER! Prayer is so powerful and I know we've seen Him do mighty, mighty things! If you are able to donate monetarily, whether it be big or small, we would be so grateful for your help! We are praying for safe travels, a smooth surgery, and full recovery! Our God is good and we are putting it all in His hands! We thank you for your prayers and donations, and for taking the time to read and share January's story.
